Dr. Ann


Dr. Bingham Newman has been a practicing therapist in Claremont since 1982, focusing on children, ages 2-12, families and individuals. Children and families often call her "Dr Ann".

Dr. Bingham Newman uses play therapy with children and adults in her practice and she is specially trained in the use of Sand Trays. Play therapy helps children express what is troubling them when they cannot say their thoughts and feelings in words. It allows them to safely address and resolve their problems.

She is active in Peaceful Divorce Solutions which is a program that combines the best of mediation and collaborative divorce in helping families make transitions from a marital couple to two separate families through mediation. All the professionals have advanced training in mediation and collaborative divorce. The purpose is to help faimlies meet their goals by making their own decisions in the divorce process. The conflicts are minimized, costs are reduced and there is preservation of the family relationships while staying out of court.

Dr Ann is a founding member of the Collaborative Divorce Professionals of the Inland Empire (CDPIE) which is a practice group comprised of Attorney's, Mental Health Professionals, and Financial Specialists who work together as teams to help families through divorces. Their goal is to make the process of divorce as dignified and respectful as possible

As a mediator, collaborative divorce coach and child specialist, she is committed to helping families find a peaceful resolution to ending the marriage by avoiding adversarial divorce litigation.

She retired from Cal State LA in 2009 where she had been a Professor for 35 years. She now enjoys Professor Emeritus status. Prior to working at CSULA she worked with young children for many years in Wisconsin and Texas.
